La population canadienne demeure dangereusement non inform\u00e9e des attaques de d\u00e9sinformation, et le Canada a besoin d\u2019une strat\u00e9gie \u00e9nergique pour en combattre les effets corrosifs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u2019est le message que le v\u00e9t\u00e9ran de la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision Kevin Newman a transmis au d\u00e9jeuner annuel de remise des prix de Libert\u00e9 de la presse Canada, qui a eu lieu le 1er<\/sup> mai au Centre national des Arts d\u2019Ottawa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin Newman a eu une longue carri\u00e8re de pr\u00e9sentateur de nouvelles, notamment comme pr\u00e9sentateur en chef du bulletin Global National sur le r\u00e9seau du m\u00eame nom et co-pr\u00e9sentateur \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9mission Good Morning America sur le r\u00e9seau ABC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 par le flot croissant de m\u00e9sinformation et de d\u00e9sinformation qui pollue notre \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me m\u00e9diatique, il a cofond\u00e9 GetFact.ca<\/a>, r\u00e9unissant des scientifiques, des sp\u00e9cialistes en v\u00e9rification des faits, des journalistes et d\u2019anciens combattants. Les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de GetFact examinent les vid\u00e9os et le contenu en ligne pour v\u00e9rifier ce qui est publi\u00e9 sur le Canada et sa population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Beaucoup d\u2019\u00e9tudes sur la m\u00e9sinformation et la d\u00e9sinformation montrent l\u2019omnipr\u00e9sence de celles-ci dans les m\u00e9dias sociaux et leurs effets n\u00e9fastes sur la d\u00e9mocratie \u00bb, a dit Kevin Newman lors de son allocution au d\u00e9jeuner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un r\u00e9cent sondage L\u00e9ger publi\u00e9 le 5 mai le confirme. Le sondage men\u00e9 du 29 avril au 1er<\/sup> mai a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que pr\u00e8s d\u2019une personne sur cinq au Canada croit que l\u2019information fallacieuse ou la d\u00e9sinformation ont eu une incidence majeure sur les \u00e9lections f\u00e9d\u00e9rales du 28 avril.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M. Newman a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu\u2019il \u00e9tait temps de se pr\u00e9munir contre ce fl\u00e9au, plut\u00f4t que de continuer \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tudier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Le Canada est le seul pays de l\u2019OTAN \u00e0 ne pas s\u2019\u00eatre dot\u00e9 d\u2019une v\u00e9ritable strat\u00e9gie contre la d\u00e9sinformation, et une grande part de la population ignore tout de la m\u00e9sinformation et de la d\u00e9sinformation auxquelles elle est confront\u00e9e chaque jour \u00bb, fait-il remarquer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab J\u2019ai particip\u00e9 \u00e0 trop de tables rondes sur la m\u00e9sinformation. Nous devons commencer \u00e0 intervenir \u00bb, dit-il.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newman presse le gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de \u00ab se montrer aussi transparent envers les Canadiens et Canadiennes sur les attaques de d\u00e9sinformation que sur les cyberattaques comme il commence \u00e0 le faire, notamment pendant la campagne \u00e9lectorale \u00bb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les m\u00e9dias doivent aussi montrer cette transparence afin que les autorit\u00e9s informent les journalistes de l\u2019activit\u00e9 accrue des robots et des raisons de cette augmentation. Selon lui, les dirigeants d\u2019entreprise doivent \u00eatre inform\u00e9s rapidement de toute tentative visant \u00e0 discr\u00e9diter leurs activit\u00e9s pour qu\u2019ils puissent intervenir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newman a press\u00e9 le Canada d\u2019adopter une approche militaire et d\u2019\u00e9tablir une salle de crise de l\u2019information \u00ab pour savoir rep\u00e9rer toute man\u0153uvre inhabituelle qui vise \u00e0 accentuer certaines de ces conversations, \u00e0 les amplifier et \u00e0 cibler la population canadienne. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il a mentionn\u00e9 que les Canadiennes et les Canadiens ont besoin d\u2019outils pour se prot\u00e9ger contre cet arsenal de la guerre de l\u2019information afin de cr\u00e9er un \u00ab mouvement de r\u00e9sistance citoyenne contre la d\u00e9sinformation \u00bb. Parmi ces outils, citons l\u2019initiative Get Fact, qui compte maintenant 100 membres de partout au Canada qui travaillent \u00e0 r\u00e9\u00e9valuer la v\u00e9racit\u00e9 des faits publi\u00e9s en ligne. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newman a invit\u00e9 les participants au d\u00e9jeuner de remise de prix de Libert\u00e9 de la presse \u00e0 documenter l\u2019utilisation de ces outils de d\u00e9sinformation et \u00e0 appuyer la demande faite au gouvernement de faire de l\u2019arsenal contre la d\u00e9sinformation sa priorit\u00e9 pour prot\u00e9ger la population canadienne.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
