L’intelligence artificielle est une nouvelle technologie qui pourrait permettre de r\u00e9soudre certains des probl\u00e8mes les plus urgents de la plan\u00e8te, mais qui comporte \u00e9galement des risques effrayants si elle devient incontr\u00f4lable et nuit \u00e0 l’humanit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce m\u00e9lange de risques et d’opportunit\u00e9s s’applique \u00e0 la presse, comme \u00e0 la plupart des institutions modernes. Les chercheurs de Mila, dirig\u00e9s par le directeur scientifique Hugo Larochelle, s’efforcent de maximiser les opportunit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En septembre, Mila a nomm\u00e9 Hugo Larochelle, ancien directeur du laboratoire d’IA de Google, au poste de directeur scientifique. \u00ab J’assume ces responsabilit\u00e9s avec beaucoup d’enthousiasme et un sens aigu du devoir \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chez Mila, ce devoir comprend la mise en place de mesures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 visant \u00e0 limiter les risques \u00e0 court et \u00e0 long terme li\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019IA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Larochelle prononcera le discours d’ouverture du symposium de novembre du WPFC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans un communiqu\u00e9 annon\u00e7ant sa nomination au Mila, il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que les travaux men\u00e9s au Mila ouvraient la voie \u00e0 des perc\u00e9es scientifiques tout en apportant une contribution positive \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dario Amodei, PDG de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de recherche en IA Anthropic, a r\u00e9cemment d\u00e9clar\u00e9<\/a> qu’il y avait 25 % de chances que l’avenir de l’IA \u00ab tourne tr\u00e8s, tr\u00e8s mal \u00bb.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amodei avait \u00e9t\u00e9 interrog\u00e9 sur le \u00ab chiffre fatidique \u00bb, terme technique d\u00e9signant le potentiel de l’IA \u00e0 d\u00e9truire l’humanit\u00e9 ou \u00e0 d\u00e9clencher une catastrophe. Il a \u00e9galement d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu’il y avait 75 % de chances que \u00ab les choses se passent vraiment tr\u00e8s bien \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les salles de r\u00e9daction peuvent utiliser des outils d’IA pour analyser de grandes quantit\u00e9s de donn\u00e9es, par exemple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais d’autres utilisent cette technologie pour manipuler l’opinion publique, cr\u00e9er des deepfakes et diffuser de la d\u00e9sinformation. Cela affaiblit la confiance dans les m\u00e9dias et cr\u00e9e des probl\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pour les journalistes, augmentant les menaces et les attaques contre leur travail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mila travaille sur la meilleure fa\u00e7on d’utiliser l’IA et l’apprentissage automatique pour am\u00e9liorer les syst\u00e8mes et les secteurs, tout en essayant de relever les d\u00e9fis n\u00e9gatifs de l’IA, notamment la d\u00e9sinformation et les deepfakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fond\u00e9 par Yoshua Bengio, figure de proue de l’IA, Mila est le plus grand centre de recherche universitaire au monde dans le domaine de l’apprentissage profond. Son objectif est de rendre les algorithmes d’apprentissage automatique plus fiables, plus s\u00fbrs et plus \u00e9quitables, des principes qui profitent directement aux m\u00e9dias et \u00e0 la libert\u00e9 de la presse. Si les consommateurs d’informations et d’affaires publiques font confiance aux informations qu’ils consomment, ils sont plus enclins \u00e0 soutenir la libert\u00e9 de la presse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mila s’est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 l’UNESCO pour publier Missing Links in AI Governance, un appel \u00e0 la r\u00e9glementation de l’IA. Selon eux, une r\u00e9glementation aiderait les citoyens dans leurs interactions avec l’IA et, pour les m\u00e9dias, elle exigerait de la transparence, notamment l’\u00e9tiquetage des contenus g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par l’IA afin d’\u00e9viter toute tromperie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
